Every VPN review on TGVPN is built on consistent, repeatable testing specifically designed for Telegram use cases.
What Makes Our Testing Different
Most VPN review sites test for generic metrics โ Netflix unblocking, torrent speeds, gaming latency. We test for one thing: how well does this VPN work with Telegram?
This means our testing protocol is uniquely focused on messaging performance, voice/video call quality, censorship bypass in countries where Telegram is actually blocked, and file transfer speeds through Telegram's infrastructure.
Our 4-Pillar Testing Protocol
1. Censorship Bypass (40% of score)
We test each VPN from locations where Telegram is blocked or restricted:
- Real-world testing from servers and connections in Iran, China, Russia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Turkey, Thailand, and Cuba
- DPI resistance โ Can the VPN's obfuscation defeat Deep Packet Inspection?
- Connection reliability โ How consistently can the VPN establish and maintain a Telegram connection?
- Reconnection speed โ If disconnected, how fast does it recover?
2. Messaging Speed (25% of score)
- Message latency โ Time from send to delivery confirmation
- Media download speed โ Photo and video loading times in chats
- Group performance โ Speed in active groups with hundreds of members
- Channel loading โ How fast channels and their media load
3. Call Quality (20% of score)
- Voice call clarity โ MOS (Mean Opinion Score) for audio quality
- Video call stability โ Frame rate, resolution, and connection drops
- Latency โ Round-trip delay during calls
- Connection time โ How long it takes to establish a call
4. File Transfer (15% of score)
- Upload speed โ Time to upload files of various sizes (1MB, 10MB, 100MB)
- Download speed โ Time to download files from Telegram
- Large file handling โ Performance with Telegram's 2GB file limit

Scoring System
Each VPN receives a Telegram Score out of 10, calculated from the four testing pillars above. The weights reflect what matters most to Telegram users:

Independence & Transparency
We purchase every VPN subscription with our own funds. No VPN provider has access to our testing process, and no affiliate relationship influences scores or rankings. If we receive a press account for testing purposes, we disclose that in the review.
Our testing scripts and raw data will be made available on GitHub in the future for full transparency.
